The Role:

We’re seeking an experienced Head of Operations to join a highly skilled team dedicated to making an impact.  The role will be focused on achieving capital efficient growth and scale of the company across Australia and the USA.  The Head of Operations will oversee our commercial, finance, IT, legal and customer service functions and ensure that FloodMapp continues to deliver leading-edge products and support to customers. The ideal candidate will have senior management experience in a dynamic setting, preferably with demonstrated experience rapidly scaling venture-backed startups. The role requires outstanding organizational, communication, and leadership skills and an ability to develop innovative solutions that push boundaries. The Head of Operations will work closely with the Founders and leadership team to develop strategies and long-term plans that usher in new levels of productivity and success for the company. Most of all, we are looking for someone with integrity, empathy and tenacity; determined to help communities adapt to climate change. 

Your Responsibilities:
  • Work with founders and senior leaders to plan, develop and execute company growth strategy 

  • Set yearly goals and budgets 

  •  Build and develop sales operations including processes to handle inbound leads, in consultation with the Head of Sales. 

  • Build and develop customer onboarding and customer service operations to ensure strong customer retention, in consultation with the customer support and technical teams. 

  • Manage day-to-day business operations and customer support and success team. 

  • Ensure regulatory compliance locally and internationally (e.g., commercial, employment relations, engineering, taxation) 

  • Manage legal risk and compliance including implementing appropriate systems and processes 

  • Design and implement efficient systems, procedures and standards that align with overall strategy 

  • Manage all existing IT and software as a service solutions, including implementation of new technology solutions throughout the organization 

  • Manage relations and negotiations with customers, key suppliers, partners and other stakeholders 

  • Evaluate corporate and organisational risk and lead quality assurance efforts 

  • Oversee expenses and budgeting to help the organization optimize costs and benefits 

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting on operational performance  

  • Manage financial modelling and capital planning for further growth and expansion 

  • Support capital raise transactions including finance and negotiation of key terms 

 

Your Skills & Background:  

Required skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business administration, finance, law,  or related field 

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a startup or scaleup environment 

  • Experience in developing budgets and business plans 

  • Superior negotiation skills for both internal and external purposes 

  • Strong working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics, using business management software (ex: SAP, ERP, CRM) 

  • Experience working with and setting OKRs 

  • Experience with growing teams and managing people directly 

  • Experience with negotiation and setting up deals with suppliers as well as customers 

  • Experience with inbound sales or working in the space between marketing and sales. 

 

It's amazing, but not required to have:

  • Previous product-led SaaS company experience, and product-led approach 

  • Familiarity with behavioral economics, user experience design, the jobs-to-be-done theory or similar 

  • Experience in emergency management 

  • Understanding of flood risk management, hydrology and hydraulics 

  • Experience with GIS based software products
