Flooding is becoming more frequent and more severe each year. It is the costliest natural disaster, causing billions in damages and taking thousands of lives across the globe each year. Most of this occurs because businesses and individuals do not have access to location-specific flood forecasts.

 

The Solution:

FloodMapp offers real-time flood forecasting at continental scale; delivered as a live mapping feed to help users understand who and what is in danger and subsequently prevent lives being lost, and damage to assets. Our ground-breaking modelling technology, DASH, introduces big data, automation and machine learning to traditional flood modelling techniques to deliver a world-first live mapping solution.

About the role:

As the Business Development Manager, you'll wear many hats and form strong relationships. you’ll be responsible for the end-to-end sales process from prospecting new leads to closing them. You’ll also form strategic partnerships with key stakeholders across government agencies and industry bodies. Your mission will be to grow a portfolio of enterprise accounts with FloodMapp across APAC & USA to fuel the growth of the company. Ultimately, you'll be helping protect organisations and communities from the devastating impacts of floods.

 

At FloodMapp, you will:

  • Manage inbound leads to explore and qualify business opportunities.

  • Set up meetings and take calls with key stakeholders for product demonstrations and commercial discussions.

  • Lead the outbound business development process by networking and connecting with target customer personas.

  • Prepare business presentations and proposals.

  • Build out a pipeline of leads across outbound and inbound interest.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with our clients to provide a smooth and positive experience during the sales & onboarding process.

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge in areas around our product, competitors and alternative solutions.

  • Develop a strong understanding of how the industry is developing and emerging trends.

  • Attend relevant conferences and events to engage with prospective customers to continue building the sales pipeline.

  • Develop and execute the company’s sales strategy to build a repeatable and scalable sales process.

  • Assist in development of sales objectives based on quarterly and annual sales quotas for different regions.

  • Contract discussions and negotiations.

 

Experience & Skills:

Required:

  • Highly professional in all written and verbal communications.

  • Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills.

  • A strong track record in stakeholder engagement for complex projects.

  • Highly articulate and confident presenting in front of others.

  • Strong time management, prioritisation and organisational skills.

  • Ability to show initiative, problem solve and take ownership of your goals and work autonomously to achieve them.

  • Goal oriented and driven to achieve targets.

  • Highly experienced at selling at the enterprise level to corporates and into the public sector.

  • Working knowledge and experience of procurement channels and budget cycles.

  • Experience with executing the whole sales cycle from initial call, securing contracts and supporting customers for ongoing business opportunities.

  • Exceptionally details focused with a commitment to quality in all that you do.

  • Experience selling technical software products.

  • Experience with Geospatial Information Systems (GIS).

  • Contract negotiation experience.
     

It’s great, but not required if you have:

  • Experience in emergency management.

  • Understanding of hydrology and flooding.

  • Experience with weather products.

  • Business development experience in the government, energy, transport or insurance sectors.

  • Sales experience with SaaS or licensing models.
