The Role

As a GIS Analyst at FloodMapp, you will support our Flood Operations by collecting and handling high volumes of data and providing mapping services and technical research analysis. You will review, process, digitise and maintain spatial data to support model development and model validation.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously update our spatial layers to assist the flood operations team with building flood models 

  • Assist with importing new GIS layers into various databases 

  • Digitize, create, maintain, display and update GIS layers 

  • Discover patterns and trends through layer editing (spatially and within an attribute table) 

  • Data analysis and manipulation to transform and project data into it its desired form 

  • Creating and producing accurate maps for reports and presentations 

Responsibilities

Skills & Background

Required:

  • Relevant geospatial qualification, or equivalent experience

  • Previous experience using a GIS platform such as;

  • QGIS

  • ArcMap

  • MapInfo

  • Or other relevant platform

  • Layer editing

  • Data entry

  • Map creation

  • Data transformation/projections

 

It’s great, but not required if you have experience with:

  • Structured Query Language (SQL)

  • Previous experience in the water industry

  • Spatial assessments

  • Data charting
